Daily Art #3022

Today I moved back to the Paper Chevron painting.

This painting is going to need a lot of refining but before that I darkened and unified the values and colors with a glaze of burnt umber over the paper area. I took special care in picking out the best color to use for the glaze as I want to get a golden glow.

Next I filled in the background with a mixture of ivory black and ultramarine blue. I want the background to have a cool color to it to further push the paper forward.

Lastly I put the lightest light on the paper and played with very soft edges to simulate the glow of a super bright object against a dark background.

The progress today is wonderful and I can’t wait to work on it again tomorrow.
