I’m gone far enough with this painting for now until it’s dry.
The next time I work on this painting I’m going to try “knocking it back” with a glaze over the whole thing. The technique of putting a glazed coat over the whole painting will hopefully unify the values a bit more, add in a slight bit of color, and provide contrast to any further paint applied.
I haven’t used this technique in years but I think it will work well. I want to add an overall subtle color to the painting as well as darken it a bit so that when I hit the lighter areas again they really shine.
I also worked on the next paper painting and by tomorrow I will be painting on it.
