You can call this “pick and shovel” work. Lots of filling in with value but no subtlety.
It’s all part of the process and I like the contrast of work. Rosa Parks face is full of subtlety and her dress is not. The photo of her dress has more details to it but I want her dress to draw little or no attention.
The flower though, I will take my time there and see how I can match it with the delicacy in her face.
