Working on Snape’s coat and cloak is really pulling this whole drawing together. Much more than I would have thought earlier.
I’m using conte a paris pencils to basically grind super deep and dark charcoal into the paper. The rest of the drawing is dark but Snape’s coat and cloak needs to be much darker.
A better approach would have been to practice better conservation of my values in the background. Then I wouldn’t need to extend the charcoal to it’s maximum blackness.
Next time I’ll make sure to place down a section of the darkest darks and lightest lights in the drawing and use those as my gauge for the rest of the values.
The normal 15 minute warm-up in graphite.
What went well, what was awesome! Celebrate It!
Super excited at completing this drawing and moving on to the next this week.
What needs work? What did you learn?
More time and more focus.
How am I going to Optimize moving forward?
I’ll work hard to get my current projects done before the end of the month so I can spend as much time on art as possible
