I’m having some trouble with my canvas during this rough block-in. For some reason the texture is much more rough than it should be.
I’m covering the entire painting with a rough block-in that should go on smooth and make subsequent layers of paint go on even smoother. Unfortunately, I think the size of this canvas has changed how I apply the gesso which has resulted in a texture like sand paper. This is much more rough than I’m used to and hard to cover.
I may benefit from letting this layer of oil paint dry before working into the painting further. Although I don’t want to put the painting down for several days, I’m excited to keep working on it.
