This one is of Mt Baker as seen from the Heliotrope Ridge trail.
I’m having a bit of an issue on this painting with the vibrancy of the paint soaking into the board a bit. I think I only put one coat of gesso on the board instead of two.
I’ll keep coating some paint onto it until it turns out the way I want in the next session. This scene is too beautiful to not do it justice.
What went well?
The composition is looking great and I think the painting will turn out really well.
What didn’t go so well?
Dealing with a bit of a gesso issue with the paint soaking into the board. But I’m sure that a few layers will fix that. If not I can always go over it with some acrylic paint to liven it up.
What did I learn?
Make sure that I at least double coat the boards with gesso before painting.
