Christmas Landscape 1 and 2

I’m very happy with the improvements I’ve made over yesterday on the first painting and I like the second even better.

I hope that I continue to improve on these paintings the more that I do. I’m feeling like I’m getting the hang of it. I may even take gouache into the open studio tomorrow and try out my skills with the figure.

What went well?

I was able to get the first one done and a second one.

What didn’t go so well?

I may have gotten a bit too detailed on the second one.

What did I learn?

For gouache it seems managing the water to paint ratio is essential for paint application and color. I’m not 100% certain on this but it seems when I add more water to my mixtures they change color more when they dry.
