Charcoal Life Drawing

I’m so glad that I have a life drawing class that I can go to twice a week. No matter how low my motivation is I still enjoy being amongst artists and drawing from the figure.

It seems that the hardest body to draw in a thin tall female. There are so many subtle curves and not a lot of prominent transitions.

It’s not often that I hate a pose but this one just ended up being the worst. I happened to be at the worst angle to see anything interesting. But, I didn’t move to a new spot, there were none open, I took it as a challenge and got the drawing done.

Now this pose was much more interesting. I broke down most of the curves and went for accuracy rather than elegance.

Here is a “costume” pose. Not sure why they call it a costume I think these are the clothes the model walked in wearing… I could be wrong. I focused a bit more on value here than the drawing, too bad I didn’t do well on the face or else this would have been a better drawing.

I was very happy with how this drawing turned out, wish I had a bit more time to finish the whole body though. One day I will show up for the Tuesday life drawing class where I can work on the same pose for 3 hours.

Just having fun with this last one. I was drawing the figure in a similar way to painting. It was all about form and value.
