Another calm and productive day of art making. I’m getting in a groove now and the necessity to rush is fading.
My Sheldon Cooper drawing is coming a long great. I’m moving slowly through it because the simplicity of the shading could be easily marred with a minimal amount misplaced strokes. I must be careful.

Warm-up and DrawABox exercises
The normal 15 minute warm-up in graphite.

The challenges continue with the 250 box challenge. I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll every be able to create perfect boxes with freehand ink drawing.

One Minute Head Gestures
This is a fun exercise. Just the head, only the head. But compacted into one minute. Getting stuck on the details is perilous here so I try to always sketch in the shape of the head first before carving in the features.

Daily Composition and Daily Sketch
My cat sleeping in his box for a sketch. Then a couple of hikers we passed on a the mountain trail yesterday with their cute puppy. I really need practice drawing dogs.

What went well?
My art day was calm and productive as I moved through each of my tasks.
What needs work?
Give the draw a box exercises more time this week.
What did I learn?
The larger shapes first, then the features.
