In an effort to fill in all the gaps in the shading created by the paper texture I used a brush.
It turns out that a brush on paper to move the charcoal around works really well. It smooth things out a bit, but I can use that as a texture difference in place. Overall I think the usage of the brush makes the drawing look much better.
