Battle At The Ballpark

Today was wonderful but it wasn’t a day for art. It was a day for Crossfit, competition, friends and fun!

Today I was one of four members of Team WODka, at Battle at the Ballpark. A Crossfit competition held at Safeco field in Seattle. This was my first Crossfit competition and I was a bit worried because I’ve only just now got back into a regular routine of working out weekly at a Crossfit box here on the island. I have to say though, our team did great! Not only did we work our butts off but we had a wonderful time.

Thanks Michelle, Steven and Kate for kicking butt!

After a long morning of working out we headed back home to prepare for a cookout and what was to be a long night of partying. I was lucky enough to catch Brent trying to take a nap. It’s not a great drawing though Brent deserves a better portrait but it was spur of the moment and I also was a bit tired and ready for a nap.

Then Kate was beginning to prepare dinner in the kitchen. I was wanting to catch the light coming in through the window and hitting her, but the pencil wasn’t going dark enough. I should invest in some good paint pens or a portable gouache set.

Even though I complain of the quality of these sketches, they are the ones that count most. Through my daily art I have not only established a habit of creation but I’ve also ingrained art into everything I do daily. I can’t help but think about art throughout the day even if I’m sweating buckets at Safeco Field. I just need to sketch a lot more and then I can capture my friends better next time!
