Another Productive Day

I’m little pressed for time on today’s post so I’m going to keep it short and just chat about another productive day.

I finished filling in most of the basic values for the Mr Rogers drawing and started on add darker tones. I’ll focus on getting all the shadows laid out then move on to the more subtle tones, leaving white for last.

Satsuma Still Life in Oil

I’m really happy with the satsuma painting. I just wish that these photos would come out better. The painting looks so much better than this photo. All I have left to do is refine the right orange, the edge of the board and then some clean-up, then done.

Memory Gestures

The memory gestures exercise from the The Natural Way to Draw book is a tough one. If I wanted to excel a this I would need to practice them more than once a month.

Daily Composition and Sketch

I picked a stock photo of a family interacting with their devices rather than each other. Then I tried to adjust the composition for better impact on the digital zombie idea. I don’t think it worked very well but the composition was a success because it got me to think.

The sketch is of a statue that I’m planning on drawing for the next few days. I’ve always sucked at drawing this particular statue so I’m going to see if I can find out why.

What went well, what was awesome! Celebrate It!

I’m off work, I can focus on art all day and I’ve had another productive day!

What needs work? What did you learn?

Even though I have all day I’m feeling a bit rushed. I’m trying to do too much.

How am I going to Optimize moving forward?

Tomorrow is going to be a day with Pattie in the mountains so I can use the morning for some art then relax the rest of the day.

My day is complete only when I do some piece of art each day, no matter how small. "There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."
