Ann: Graphite Drawing Finished

I didn’t want to title this post “Drawing Finished” because even when you’re painting your also drawing.

I have a current method going and hope to continue it for the next few weeks/months. I’m working from the Nicolaides book for the first part of my daily session then the painting of Ann.

For the current contour drawings I’m practicing keeping my focus for longer and for the painting of Ann I’m just going for accuracy, at least for the drawing phase. Once I begin painting on it I will begin to depart from the image and focus more on what I want to communicate.

What went well?

Three hours of art even after lost sleep today. I’m very grateful for naps.

What didn’t go so well?

For every subsequent contour drawing I did I lost a bit more energy and focus so the time on each declined until I lost focus completely.

What did I learn and/or how can I do better?

I can keep better track of my contour focus times and try to beat them each session this will force me out of my comfort zone and to slow down.
