Statement

Chris Beaven is an artist currently living and working in Pueblo Colorado, known for his commitment to daily creation, a practice he’s maintained consistently for over 4900 days spanning more than thirteen years. What began as a passion at a young age solidified into an unwavering dedication after returning from a five-year hiatus that revealed the importance of continuous growth through art. This realization sparked a deep dive into personal development and the mindset required to sustain such discipline.

Chris’ work primarily focuses on figure and portrait painting, though he readily explores landscapes and still life as well. While trained in traditional methods, his artistic journey has been largely self-directed, embracing online resources and experimentation. He works mainly in oil but also finds joy in graphite, charcoal, gouache, and acrylic, seeking to distill complex emotions into minimalist forms. “Like poetry, not a novel,” he describes his approach, striving for impactful representation with elegant simplicity.

His style defies easy categorization, reflecting the evolving nature of his inner world – one day quiet and soft, the next bold and vibrant. Influenced by a wide range of art from classical masters to modern abstraction, Chris Beaven creates what he wants to create, continually growing and expanding through his daily practice. He’s exhibited widely across the US, including a Best in Show award in Seattle, Washington, culminating in a full-time artistic career supported by galleries throughout Colorado and online sales. Bio

Chris Beaven is best known for his evolving figure and portrait paintings that never quite settle on one specific style. “We are different people every day, I’m like everyone else, containing multitudes, there is no one box for me.” Like Chris’ artwork he and his wife have never settled and have lived all over the US, from Florida to Hawaii and many places in between. But, the one thread that has connected all his constant change is his extreme discipline to create every single day without stopping. The latest count is over 4900 days in a row, over 13+ years straight.
