So I took my last session’s monochrome start a little further with much more work on value.
Use burnt umber and titanium white I worked on getting the values of this painting more accurate. Originally I would have just used burnt umber and left the lightest portions as bare canvas but the white of the sheet used in the photo needed some titanium white. The contrast of the cool gray gesso and the white works really well on the sheet.
If I wanted to take this painting further into the realm of color from this point on I would have worked exclusively on the figure.
