A Good Foundation: Session 2

After a long drive home through snowy weather and bad roads we arrive home safely and I’m able to work on this still life again. Which I’m now calling “A Good Foundation”, due to the fact that everything is stacked upon The Artist’s Handbook of Materials and Techniques by Ralph Mayer.

The new title seems fitting as I have changed my usual materials a bit for this painting. I’ve changed to a new slow dry medium, I have a new limited palette, and I’m painting on stretched linen canvas. Soon I will have a materials page up that I can references, I have gone through so many that I feel it’s time to put my reviews out there so others can get my opinion.

So far this still life is going well, I’m just working slowly trying to get my value and colors correct. It’s nice that I got the drawing down in the first session now I can kinda relax and not worry too much about it.
