Today is the second day in a week that my internal compass is pointing to painting animals. I’m really enjoying the landscapes and I’ve committed to doing a bunch of them but I must follow my heart. Today I spent over an hour researching images of animals and getting clear in my head what I want to produce. This will be a series of paintings because I can’t do just one and I’m not abandoning landscapes or even figures. I’m broadening the scope of what I’m able to paint well and at any time I can move between each subject matter.
My first painting is going to be of these African elephants. I found the photo online and made multiple digital edits to it so my painting can be influenced by it but not an exact copy of the photographers work.
