3283: 1853, Session 11

More distractions than I would like this morning but I was able to get a good hour in on this painting.

With 1853 I prepared the canvas with a block-in that with colors at a much lower chroma and higher value. The plan is to use the initial layer to establish drawing, value and general hue but to not be so intrusive that it overpowers the subsequent layers.

As you can see I started on the face this morning with very high chroma colors and I I work I’m learning how to paint brown skin which is a wonderful difference than what I’m used to. I’m also tremendously excited about this painting after watching this talk by Kehinde Wiley my biggest art hero. He embodies everything I want to be as an artist.

I am an Artist and a programmer currently living in the amazing state of Washington. I have a passion for art, but I'm stubborn as hell with it. My day is complete only when I do some piece of art each day, no matter how small. "There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."
