3087: Extreme Color

I’m pushing the color into very high chroma for this painting.

I’m wondering if it’s going too far.

I feel that I could get the same effect if I knew more about color relationships. If I knew more I wouldn’t have to go into the limits of chroma and work more deftly in the subtle colors.

That’s why I’m doing these portrait comps. To push my boundaries of color and figure out what I don’t know and learn.

  1. I saw that you were considering stopping your warmup practice! Ahhh! That’s a bold move, sir. But thinking about the essential, I’m not sure that the line exercises for your warmup are very efficient for a painter, so it’s probably a good call. Or, if you decide to continue warmups, do something more aligned with your practice.
