Today was a super effective day in my AM and afternoon art session.
I not only got a lot of work done with CreateQuest but I was also able to make some really good progress on the paper across painting.
I refined those shadows a bit more in the center area and it looks much better. I even started adjusting the colors for the light area on the right so that it matches along with golden cues that I want throughout the painting.
Another thing that I discovered while testing colors against my monitor is that The angle at which I view the color on testing is important. If I view it at an incorrect angle the value would change dramatically. And the best way that I found check that I’m viewing things at the correct angle is to use a white box on the screen check it with my titanium white paint.
The whole thing is rather technical but what’s really important is that I do what I can to remove all variables so that I can consistently judge the colors correctly.
Lastly for today’s session I was able to plot the rest of my tube paints on my Munsell hue wheel.
It was a great and productive day and I did all of this with no air conditioning and 98° temperatures. Yikes!
