Color challenges and life challenges today and I’m trying to show up as best as I can.
First thing I did this morning was test all the colors left on my palette to see if they were dry.
All the colors that I mixed yesterday that had burnt umber in them are completely dry. All the colors that I mixed the day before are almost completely dry. In order for me to continue with this practice and not having to remake mixtures every session I’m going to have to figure out a way to extend the drying time of my paints.
Today was a super challenging day. We have a very serious cat emergency and so most of my art time was cut short with a lot of interruptions. Plus I figured out that I had a program running on my computer to change the color of my screen for a better sleep and that was affecting all the colors and photoshop. So as soon as I turned that program off I basically have to redo all of my color matching done on this painting.
On a positive note through this Photoshop and computer challenge I figured out a really good way to white balance my image that I’m working on.
I created a white square over the image that I’m working on in Photoshop and held up titanium white directly over the screen. Then I began to adjust the image with a warming photo filter so that the hue and value matched as close as possible to titanium white. I figure if titanium white is the lightest light that I could possibly get an oil paint and I adjusted my image so that it was limited to that maximum then I should be able to reach every single other color in that digital image.
Regardless of all the challenges today I’m still committed and I’m still showing up!
